• Question: what do you have to wear when you fit the limbs????

      It’s not actually my job to fit the limbs, that’s what Prosthetists do. I am more the behind-the-scenes engineer and look at how we can design limbs that are more comfortable and fit better to prevent further injury.
      Day to day, I’m normally in jeans (or something else pretty casual). When I’m in the lab, I make sure that I have closed toe shoes on and when required lab coat and goggles for safety.
      The prosthetists wear closed toe shoes, long sleeves and sometime overalls for making the socket which is what connects the prosthetic limb to the body. In the clinic when they’re with patients, it’s similar without the overalls!
