      This is a tough question!
I guess the computer because there are SO many versions and applications. The original computers were the size of whole rooms but less powerful that your mobile phone. They’ve evolved so much and are used in all aspects of life really.

My PhD exoskeleton, just the exoskeleton without the controls or interface took maybe 40 or more prototypes, I lived in my lab then.
Overall that whole project went through about 100 prototypes. We will also ignore the coding there!

      The automatic ant doors.

About 5 prototypes, really fiddly to make….also we may have given some of the ants a slight head ache…..:(

My current Doctorate project, At the begining I had to come up with an idea for a tool that would have many pins in it and it would be able to be used instead of a drill. There were certain specifications that I had to meet, which made it complicated to design the tool. But thanks to the technology I would just sketch my ideas on CAD (Computer Aided Design) and then assess the feasibilities of each design. So I had around 15 iterations, until I got my final design. 🙂
