My job is great fun and very varied. The great thing about being a researcher is that you can pick the topic you want to work on and then use and develop the skills you want to in order to solve the problem at hand. Each day can be very different, which is great as it means that I don’t get bored. Some days I’ll spend at my computer working on my code or computational modelling, other days I’ll be in the workshop creating or testing something (maybe circuits or 3D printing) and other days, like today, I’ll have meetings with external companies to present my research, get some feedback and make connections for the future.
My job is very flexible, which is another bonus! There are no set hours that I have to be in the office, and I’m able to work from home if I want. As long as I am in for the meetings I am required for and I’m doing my work, it’s very chilled.

My job is awesome, it comes with a different challenge every day (sometimes every minute depending on the robot) that I can solve.
I will normally spend some of my time answer emails, but a lot of the time is spent at my desk designing new robotic systems, then going up to my lab where I can build all the parts needed and then assemble the robot and test it.
I do then have to write papers on what I am doing and present this work to my boss and to other engineers and scientist all around the world.
