At GCSE, the best thing to do is do well in as many subjects as possible. That gave me the options to do the A levels that I wanted and then go to the University of my choice. I got mainly As/A*s at both GCSE and A Level but that is by no means a requirement! It all depends on how you’d want to get into engineering if that’s what you want to do. Many engineers go down the university route, but others choose to do apprenticeships or other trainee schemes which require different grade requirements to university. You may not need A levels for those routes.
As I’m doing a PhD, high grades in your first university degree are required to make sure that you have the knowledge and ability to develop skills to continue to a higher degree.
The way I’ve done it is not the only possible way to get into working on prosthetic limbs! 🙂
