Question: were you able to support yourself financially whilst doing your apprenticeship?

Yes.

I lived at home (but had to pay rent…that’s a shock when you are young!)

I started on £1.75 per hour!

It’s a little more now 😉

But after my apprenticeship finished, I had a job, I had my own car, tool box and no debt, where as friends who went to Uni were looking for work and had debt.

I’m not saying University is bad, some jobs will need university training. But there are other options especially if you are more hands on practical and learn faster doing rather than learning from books.
